Bag Raiders

Originally from Sydney, Australia this duo is best described as electronic. If I had to compare them to other bands to help you figure out who they are I would say a mix between Cut//Copy and MAYBE like Passion Pit? Possibly. They just did a tour with Ellie Goulding, and I believe I stumbled upon the Bag Raiders was when NYLON did a video for Ellie Goulding during her tour. It was a great find! As of right now the Bag Raiders are starting their tour in the UK but I hope they jump the pond and do another tour in America. They are best known for their remixes and live shows! So I must go.

Here is a video of the song that I LOVE

We Are Trees

I happen to fall upon We Are Trees through silly youtube surfing. Their sound reminds me of Grizzly Bear, and I love Grizzly Bear. The band consists of Ross Geller, Rachel Green, Chandler Bing, Monica Geller, Joey Tribbiani, and Phoebe Buffay. This great group is from the Beaches of Virginia. My absolute favorite song by them is Sunrise Sunset. From what I looked up they are currently not on tour. None the less I will see a show in the future.

The Glitch Mob @ Club Nokia

The last show of their tour was at the Club Nokia in Los Angeles. Two days ago I won tickets to see The Glitch Mob over twitter thanks to Ameoba Record Store in LA!! I took my friend Katie with me. Her and I do so well at concerts, we always manage to have the best luck when at shows. && What a night! We manage to get front row when EVERY security guard was telling everyone they we weren't allowed.. some how we manage to hop a fence to get to the pit LOL. The show was EPIC, the vibes of everyone and the music was just amazing. Probably the best concert I went to this summer. The thing about electronic shows is that even though we got front row we still had room to dance. I love that about electronic scene! I never at one point got hot, there was always breathing room. Not like other shows where you are being squished and hurt just to get close to the stage. The Glitch Mob definitely won me over. I think what makes a show is if the musicians are having fun too, and from what I saw they were totally feelin' the music. Seriously I would for go see them again, the show was unbelievable.

The Splinters

FACEBOOK ||  TWITTER ||  MYSPACE || NYLON TV

Literally just stumbled upon this lovely lady band, The Splinters. I was catching up on my youtube channels and their song came up during a Nylon TV youtube. Which you can watch with the link I have given you below the photo. I think what caught my attention was with The Splinters is their semi rough but still glamour sound. When I was listening to Ch-Cha on repeat (when I first hear a song I love, I will play it over and over until I feel like I understand it) I got the vibe of me being able to wear powder neon lipstick but still dress grunge... I know that sounds random. Trying to say is, dressing grunge but having a chic look to it. ANYWAYS I just want to share with you me rather recent obsession which is The Splinters.

The Cribs

These lads are from Wakefield, West Yorkshire. This amazing trio consists of twins Gary & Ryan Jarmen and their younger brother Ross Jarman, and Johnny Marr (ex The Smiths & Modest Mouse guitarist). I would say their sound is Garage punk/rock. They are playing with The Strokes! I think their music is pretty unique sounding, its kind of unedited sounding, which adds character to their sound.

Crowd Surfer at the US Open

Here is a photo that I took with my Fish-eye camera during the US Open Surf Competition concert series! This girl was seriously itches away from hitting my head, and right after I snapped this photo she falls to the ground. I felt so bad but this photo is totally awesome. I wish I could show who ever this is..

FEAR AND LOATHING

Marina & the Diamonds leaked out a preview music video of her new album coming out soon. I personally am so excited to see what she comes up with next! Seems as though (from what I got from the music video) she is stepping away from the "Hollywood" esc theme of songs from her last album she is leaning more towards a deeper theme. I can not wait to see what she comes up with, and a tour in the near future!
My fingers are crossed for a USA tour. My idea of the tour name "Barbie & Ken USA Tour"

MGMT

MGMT brought such a huge "hippie" crowd to the US Open yesterday! I was a little nervous for my life when they were playing. I stayed for four songs then had to go to work, my friend Katie and I were smushed to the front  and the quickest way to get out would be the security guards! So yet again I had to get pulled out of an insane crowd. This was my second time seeing MGMT, before I saw them at Coachella 2010 which was incredible! For a band that does not put on that many concerts I have seen them quite a few times. Not only do I love their music but I love their style, my personal favorite was the guy on the keyboard and his tights were beautiful with the poncho to complete the look. MGMT is classic.

Surfer Blood

Surfer Blood had a gig down at the US Open the other day and I was lucky enough to get ALMOST to the front. I was probably 3 smushed people away from the front fence. I could not believe how large the crowd was! There was people all the way to the water, and all around the stage. I haven't seen that many people since Coachella crowds. Surfer Blood put on such a good show, I forgot that I knew so many of their songs so I had so much fun. The band seems very fun and cool, the lead singer was keeping the crowd laughing. The lead singer even jump off stage and went into the crowd for some time. i would definitely go see them again! If you're interested in seeing Surfer Blood you can check them out at the echo, I know they have a show coming up there.

The Sounds at the US Open

I saw The Sounds yesterday at the US Open concert stage and what a show! My friend Melissa and I got to go sit in the VIP section because our friends had two extra wrist bands. I was so happy to be sitting a good distance from that crowd! I have never seen a more wild up crowd before at the US Open. There were mosh pits, billions of crowd surfers, people jumping on stage and even grabbing the lead singer. The US Open needs to definitely tighten their security. Besides for the crowd the show was incredible, The Sounds are so good, I was ecstatic when they played Tony the Beat. My favorite song by them with out a doubt. I believe 8/5/2011 is when Jimmy Eat World performs, I don't think I will be going down to the beach for that show. I have seen them before and they do put a good show but I don't want to bare the insane crowds. I am saving my energy for this Saturday when MGMT performs at the US Open.
