DAS RACIST

So Good! First off go to their band camp (link 'BandCamp' below the picture) for 20 FREE mp3 tracks! They are all amazing songs. Das Racist is an alternative hip-hop group from Brooklyn, NYC. Their style is somewhat different, with humorous rap, it is not like any other rap group that I know of. I encourage all to take a listen to their work.

Noah And The Whale

I am sure everyone has heard of this English Indie Folk band from England. I first heard of them with their song 5 Years Time, and then recently I heard Give a Little Love, which made me love them ten times more. Those two songs I think sound completely different. I love how deep the lead singers voice can get.

Future Islands - Tin Man

I wanted to share this one song by the Future Islands because it is currently on repeat on my ipod. I am just in love with the lead singers voice.
I was able to find a source to give a Free Download on my page but here is a free download for Tin Man on this other amazing music blog.

Gui Boratto

Gui Boratto is an electronic music producer form Sao Paulo, Brazil. His work is amazing and my ultimate favorite song is No Turning Back, the song seriously puts me in a state where I forget my problems. I wish I knew how to get you this for free but I could not find and a way. Simply buy this song on iTunes, it's well worth the money.

Nightmare & The Cat

Love this! I have been a fan of Django Stewart for a while now, I saw his old band Django James & The Midnight Squires back in 2009 at eVocal in Costa Mesa during Young the Giant (The Jakes) residency there. What I remember is the vibe from the lead singer in Django James. Unfortunately they broke up and I sort of forgot about that musician up till recently when I saw Django Stewart on NYLON: Band Crush with his new band Nightmare & the Cat! I am so excited for all these songs. What attracts me to their songs the most I think is his voice, it's so unique. My favorite song is Desert Heir.

Shakey Graves

Alejandro Rose-Garcia is the singer song writer for Shakey Graves. I some how stumbled upon Shakey Graves through a blog and fell in love with the music. You must know these songs are amazing, he is extremely talented. The song that I first heard was I'm On Fire but after to listening to his album they are all my favorite. I downloaded his album Roll the Bones off of his band camp and it's all I'm listening too. It reminds me of like a solo version of Mumford and Suns & mix between Dr. Dog & great lyrics. Well that was the first thing that came to my mind. I don't see a a tour yet, but I am crossing my fingers for a show in Los Angeles sometime soon.

You should as well Download his album Roll the Bones

Roll The Bones - Shakey Graves from CATJAM Studio on Vimeo.

Digitalism

A German electronic house duo. They make this kind of music where I can listen to Pogo over and over and fall in love with the song every time. There music is just amazing. Check out my favorite song Pogo music video below.

Jamie XX

Jamie Smith (from The XX) or known by his stage name Jamie XX. He is an English music producer and remix artist if you will. His proffessional musical career started when he joined The XX. I recently heard his remix from Jack Penate - Pull My Heart Away. Seriously an amazing artist. I saw The XX at Coachella back in 2010 and had no idea one of the band member is INSANELY awesome. There is a strong rumor that Jamie XX is going to be playing at Coachella 2012, and I for one hope this rumor is true because I would LOVE to hear his tunes live & loud. Also I suggest listening to his remix of Radiohead - Blom.

Here is as well a FREE DOWNLOAD of Jamie XX BBC Radio Essential Mix
it's over an hour long of amazing tunes, your welcome.

Pink Ganter

Refreshing to hear some clean remixes. Markus Ganter is a German producer form Maheim, Germany. When researching him I couldn't find much, but that doesn't even matter. All you need to know are the songs he is producing. Check out his soundclod for The Naked Famous remix.

Also while you're at it listen to my favorite song, So This is Goodbye

Mackintosh Braun

Lovely band I stumbled upon on Pandora (my playlist is form Empire of the Sun).  I thought I would share this find with you guys! Check out their facebook you can get a couple free remixs. I can't stop listening to Wake Up, it's my favorite.

Here is my favorite song that won me over.

Olly Murs

Well! I heard his song Dance with Me Tonight through iTunes, thought I would give it a listen and since it's pretty high on the charts. His voice is refreshing. I started to look up other songs and found that he was runner-up on the 6th series of X-Factor and that's how he got all this attention. What won me over was seeing that he has done a song with Rizzle Kicks! Which I had done a review of them last summer. I fell in love with his music and I am sure you will all too! He has a lot of shows in the UK, but my fingers are crossed that he comes to the States and has a show in LA sometime.

Here is the song that won me over:

NOBUNNY

My next concert needs to be a NOBUNNY concert. The genre is garage/punk, and the musician Justin Champlin dresses up as Nobunny his on stage character. I think this concert would be so interesting and fun, weird and just really something to see. He has been performing since 2001, but I didn't hear of him until recently through NYLON youtube channel. My favorite song is Somewhere New. I unfortunately missed his 2011 tour where he played a show in Long Beach literally 10 minutes away from my place! So upset. I am going to keep a look out for his next tour in 2012.

Sigur Rós

You must listen to this Icelandic post-rock band. They have a ethereal sound. FUN FIND, the singer, and bowed guitarist Jónsi Pór Birgisson is also is known for his other works Jonsi. He is an amazing and talented artist. In January 2010, the band announced that will pause, and till then we are going to have to wait till 2012 for a tour and works on the next album.
"Sigur Rós" is Icelandic for "Vistory Rose". The band is named after Jónsi sister Sigurrós.

I am hoping they tour soon to America, although I would much rather go to them in Iceland and see a show there. I think that would be a much better musical experience.

WU LYF

WU LYF.. what a great find. Except I found this band a little too late! They have a show at the Troubadour November 22 with Crystal Antlers that is SOLD OUT. I'm sure it is going to be an insane one. I have seen Crystal Antlers before at the House of Blues and they definitely put an interesting show. Great vibes. I have also been to a couple shows at the Troubadour and that venue is perfect. ANYWAYS, wu lyf I am so upset I can't go to your show! Your style kind of reminds me of another recent band I discovered IS TROPICAL. (not in the sense of your music but the vibe I get). I am just going to keep wishing for there to miraculously be more tickets on sale... pretty please.

Recently I have heard so much talk about this artist that I had to do some investigating on my own! Turns out he is really great! I first heard of this artist through Ultragrrrl (Nylon Magazine Music Editor) and then a day later I hear Gotye song Somebody That I Used To Know (Feat. Kimbra) on the CW series 90210. I am falling in love with this new artist's work.
Check it out for yourself:

The Section Quartet

This is an amazing string quartet of four musicians. Instruments include two violens, viola, and a cello. I love classical music but I never seem to find the right time to play it, I always feel a bit odd playing classical in my car. The Section Quartet is the PERFECT classical sounding music. They have turned popular rock sounds into classical quartet pieces. Genius. They have recreated songs from Radiohead, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Christina Aguilera, The Strokes, Coldplay, The Clash, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs (my favorite). I read somewhere that The Section Quartet has performed at the Coachella Valley Music Festival and Arts Festival in 2004 and 2006. I hope they play again in 2012, that would be such a treat!

IS TROPICAL

My new discovery IS TROPICAL. I had randomly won tickets to the show last night at the echoplex in LA having intentions to see LESANDS, I had been meaning to check them out for some time (which Lesands is a great band, and great performance). I heard all this talk about IS TROPICAL playing after and my friends and I thought we might as well wait for them to go on hear one or two songs then stroll on out. We ended up staying the whole set! The first thing that attracted me to the band was that one I wasn't able to see their faces, and two I didn't understand what was on the middle guys face! Anyways their first two songs were insane, I couldn't tell you the names of them but they were way good. Another odd thing was to see such a small crowd go utterly insane over this band! I guess my friends and I were out of the loop. I ended up inching closer to stage/speakers kinda loud but made the songs that much greater. Their beats are UHmazing. OH did I mention they are from London!! They said something in between songs and their accents were beautiful! Caught me off guard. It had my friends and I tempting to speak in English accents for the rest of the night. One song that I do remember was Zombie, which is my favorite song!! LOVE the beginning beats of that song.. SO GOOD.

Anyways, enough of me rambling. Check out IS TROPICAL!!!
Gorgeous London Band that won't show their beautiful faces!!!!
Keep it Classy.

FOUR TET

I discovered Four Tet a while back through a remix for Born Ruffians - I Need A Life. It was an amazing remix. Recently I took a listen to Four Tet remix of The XX - VCR and that was amazing as well. I finally took a listen to his own beats and they are insane. My favorite is probably Plastic People, and Love Cry. Those two songs but me in a state of ease & bless. I recommend listening to his work while studying or walking to class, or just in the mood to be relaxed and chill.

You must listen to this song with GOOD headphones or else you are just wasting your time. It sounds so incredibly good with headphones

SKY FERREIRA

Photo taken by Terry Richardson

Strange to think that Sky Ferreira and I are the same age and has experienced so much more than I have. She is 19 year old singer/songwriter, actress, model. I see her all the time in blogs with celebrities, never really wondered who she was until I saw that Katy Perry tweeted a picture of her at a party. Then I saw a photo of her and Kanye West together (as seen above). I did some research and I love her music. I can't wait to see her become famous, she seriously has the potential.

ZACH CONDON

I just wanted to make a post in admiration to Zach Condon from Beirut. I was on a music hunt the other night and I ended up watching over a billion interviews/music videos/acoustic songs on youtube. After my listening spree I have come to realize how talented Zach Condon really is. His voice range is amazing and the fact that he can play the most interesting instruments is impressive.

||  LITTLE STORY  ||

When I was seventeen I went to Coachella 2009 for the first time. I got lost from my friends & of course my phone wasn't working so I was a bit scared. I was walking past the Mojave Tent and I heard Beirut playing, I watched his whole set by myself. I forgot about my worries and enjoyed where I was. Hearing Nantes live was more than a perfect moment.

This video is what won me over on his talent. From the description it says it's in Paris. In video they are just having fun, and it's the effortless talent that Zach Condon has that fascinating.

Walter Meego

I heard Walter Meego over Pandora and let alone the first 20 seconds the song Forever started playing I fell in love. I did a little research about this band. I would call their genre dance, rock. I checked out their shows in the LA area because I would LOVE to hear their beats loud/live. I found that they are playing at The Echo in November & with White Apple Tree another great band. I haven't been to a show in some time now and I think I am going to make it out that night! I think the show sounds like fun with great bands.

Kai Fish

Kai fish is originally from the Mystery Jets. His solo work is Uhmazing. The beats are soothing. I for one am hoping to see a tour in the near future, and hopefully in the Los Angeles area. Not quite sure what else to say about him, other than I am really excited to see what else he produces. If you check out his website he has a FREE download for Cobalt Cheeks. It is worth the download, trust me.

Metronomy

I just discovered this band all of 30 minutes ago and I fell in love with their beats. I was looking at who performed at Glastonbury in 2011 and I fell upon Metronomy! I especially love their remix with The Very Best, and Architecture In Helsinki. Luckily for me I discovered them a week before they are in my town. Metronomy has a show at the Troubadour THIS Saturday and a show literally 15 minutes from my place at the Detroit Bar. Unfortunately the Detroit Bar is 21+

Quilmes Rock/Pepsi Music Festival

This major festival is in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The festival is held annually since 2003, although it is just called Pepsi Music Festival since 2005 because they are the main sponsors. Quilmes was the previous sponsor but due to loss in profit Pepsi took over. Here is a fun fact, it's one of the LARGEST & LONGEST festivals in the country with 200,000 attendees and lasts for 10-11 days! Can you imagine being in festival mode for 10-11 days? That would be amazing.

Past artist include:

Los Ratones || Memphis || The Wailers || The Offspring || Los Piojos || Megadeth || Iggy & The Stooges || The Black Eyed Peas || Australian Pink Floyd Show || The Hives || Motley Crue || Dave Matthews Band || The Cult || Nine Inch Nails || The Prodigy || Faith No More || The Ting Tings || Calle || Red Hot Chili Peppers || Katy Perry || Snow Patrol || Radiohead

Radical Face

The reasoning behind Radical Face Ben Cooper thought was "thought it was kinda funny".  His music is mellow indie kind of sound I guess you would say. He released a six track EP in November 2010 which is only a little taste of his new album to come in October 2011 which is called Family Tree. I am definitely interested to hear what this album is going to sound like. All of his past tracks are amazing.

Bon Iver Live at the Shrine Auditorium

Last night I went to the Shrine Auditorium, Downtown Los Angeles to see Bon Iver with my friend Vincent. I wasn't really sure what to except from this kind of show, his music is definitely mellow so I wasn't really getting "pumped" for the show. I heard the venue was beautiful, but it was AMAZING the ceiling and chandelier were beautiful. The acoustics in auditorium are great, you could hear every instrument being played. Other Lives opened the show, I have heard of them before so I was stoked that I got to see their set. Although, I was late, (parking was difficult) but I got hear my favorite song Dust Bowl. That was just a taste of the great sounds we would be hearing. Shortly after Bon Iver came on and OH MY GOODNESS what an amazing band (consists of 9 musicians, and a billion different instruments). Justin Vernon's voice is seriously something I have never heard of before. The range he has is breath taking. I am happy that I finally get to cross Bon Iver off my list of bands I MUST see.

Tijuana Panthers & Fool's Gold at The Troubadour

Thursday September 29 I am going to go see Fool's Gold, and Tijuana Panthers at the Troubadour. I don't know to much about these to bands, I have probably heard a couple songs, but I am in the mood to go to a random concert! I feel like it is ALWAYS fun going to shows where you love the artist but it is also WAY fun to go to shows where you don't really know about the artist. Shows for me are not just about the show but the fans, I like to see how fans react to the music. The vibes are always amazing at shows. I am really excited to hear Tijuana Panthers, I hear they are really good surfer garage band kinda music. We will see! I will try to take photos!

Polish Girl - Neon Indian

Neon Indian presents us with an amazing music video, you can watch it also on the Creators Project website/youtube. This is kind of what I picture when I was listening to this song. This music video fits perfectly with the song.

The Kooks Show in Long Beach

Never thought I would see the day! The Kooks are playing in MY home town, Long Beach. They are even playing at the record store I always go too. Fingerprints on 2nd Street in Belmont Shores. SEPTEMBER 19th. I am ooozing with sadness though that this AMAZING night has to be the same night that I am going to Bon Iver!!! I am completely torn, but I have already seen The Kooks and not yet Bon Iver so I have to way my pros and cons. If anyone is able to go please film the set, I would love to watch it.
Here is more information about this:

Imagine The Glitch Mob but 10000 times better. I mean I am a HUGE fan of The Glitch Mob. Coyote Kisses is Glitch-Step kind of music. I think everyone should listen to them. They remind me of something The Do Lab would present.

My favorite songs are Coyote Anthem HARD, Starchaser, & Lazer Swag

Amanda Blank

What can I say, she is amazing. Her music is Electronic, and funky. She has opened for Peaches (one of my favorites), Yeah Yeah Yeahs, & Santigold.

Created in 1991 this four man band is from Boston, MA. The first time I heard one of their songs was through the movie Disturbia, I believe the song was "One Man Wrecking Machine". SO GOOD. Ever since then I have a fan of Guster. I personally like the so "Happier".

The Do Lab

This post is dedicated to The Do Lab, this Los Angeles based company understands the meaning of music and creates the right perfect interactive environments for music. The Do Lab knows how to create a memorable experience for concert goers. For the past three years that I have been going to Coachella Valley Music & Art Festival, I always make a point to stop by The Do Lab. They design a place for not just the artists and performers but for the crowds as well. I remember as I was walking into to The Do Lab area the vibes I got off of the everyone were just insane. It is apparent that everyone there loves music, and the energy one another get off from each other is contagious. I believe there is nothing more important than keeping your audience pumped, and vibing. The do Lab's creativity let alone amazes me, the structures they build are breathe taking. Also knowing that all their creations are from natural materials, found objects and sustainable resources. Not to long ago I won tickets to go see The Glitch Mob at Club Nokia (thanks to Amoeba Records), and it just so happens that The Do Lab was part of creating this event. Since that show I have not stopped thinking about what a great night I had. I was able to get front row, now I was afraid if by being front row my experience would be compromised and I
wouldn't be able to dance, but I was wrong. The people there gave everyone enough room to feel dance and feel the music. Although I kept catching myself going into a daze and just staring at the lights, and the energy The Glitch Mob was giving off. It was incredible show, by far one of the best concerts I have been too. The Do Lab is truly an amazing company, they have inspired me in so many ways. Their out looks, and creativity inspires me to go out there and create something for myself and others. I was undecided in what I want to do for a career but since these past experiences I now realize I want to be apart of something like The Do Lab.

Bag Raiders

Originally from Sydney, Australia this duo is best described as electronic. If I had to compare them to other bands to help you figure out who they are I would say a mix between Cut//Copy and MAYBE like Passion Pit? Possibly. They just did a tour with Ellie Goulding, and I believe I stumbled upon the Bag Raiders was when NYLON did a video for Ellie Goulding during her tour. It was a great find! As of right now the Bag Raiders are starting their tour in the UK but I hope they jump the pond and do another tour in America. They are best known for their remixes and live shows! So I must go.

Here is a video of the song that I LOVE
